Joey Barton wished former club Rangers well against Celtic.
Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted
Joey Barton did plenty of talking last summer after signing for Rangers, only for his spell at the club to end in abject failure.
Barton’s contract was terminated after a row with club boss Mark Warburton days after a 5-1 defeat to Celtic, his only taste of an Old Firm derby.
He has since re-signed with Burnley and tried to keep a low profile where Scottish football is concerned, but sent a message out before the game wishing his former club luck.
Barton’s twitter feed was promptly inundated with hundreds of responses, largely from Celtic fans wanting to have a dig.
Here is a look at how Celtic fans replied to Barton’s tweet…
Celtic were overwhelming favourites for the fixture, owing to their 5-1 win at Celtic Park earlier in the season.
Yesterday though Celtic were held by Rangers to a 1-1 draw, with Barton’s former QPR teammate Clint Hill securing a morale boosting draw.
