Liverpool could be signing two England internationals this summer as rumours surrounding Mason Mount and Jude Bellingham intensify.
A fresh report from talkSPORT claims that the Reds are becoming increasingly confident of bringing the Chelsea No.19 to Anfield this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
It comes after Christian Falk of German outlet Bild told Caught Offside that Bellingham remains interested in a move to Liverpool despite their poor form.
The Borussia Dortmund No.22 is attracted by the prospect of leading Liverpool out of their current crisis.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at how Mount and Bellingham could fit into Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI.
As you can see, Mount would take up the left side of Klopp’s midfield, where he has often caused havoc for opponents since breaking into the Chelsea first-team.
An example of that actually came against Liverpool at Anfield, as the 24-year-old drove inside from the left flank and curled a powerful shot beyond Alisson into the bottom right corner.
The strike handed Chelsea a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Premier League back in March 2021.
In regards to Bellingham, the 19-year-old can pretty much operate anywhere in midfield.
That is actually why he wears the No.22 shirt, as those at Birmingham felt he was a No.4, a No.8 and a No.10 all rolled into one – the Blues eventually retired that No.22 shirt when he left for Borussia Dortmund.
In our XI, we have put Bellingham on the right side of central midfield, where he can drift into attacking areas like he did to open the scoring for England in the 6-2 win over Iran.
Interestingly, Mount has also made an impact on the right side, while Bellingham has been a dangerous attacking outlet for Borussia Dortmund coming in off the left – as you can see below – so the pair could even interchange during games.
With Mount and Bellingham pushing on, Liverpool need someone capable of keeping possession in midfield, while also possessing a bit of defensive bite – if he can stay fit, Thiago is able to do both to a very high standard.
