It’s been a little over a month since Arsenal failed to sign Houssem Aouar.

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Lyon playmaker during the summer transfer window.

In fact, Arsenal reportedly even had two bids rejected for the 22-year-old and the October 5 deadline passed without him joining the Emirates Stadium side.

But the January window is only a couple of months away and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if there was speculation about Mikel Arteta and Edu going back in for the French star – especially if he continues to upload cryptic messages on Twitter.

On Saturday, Aouar posted a photo of himself along with an emoji of an hourglass and another of what looks to be a tornado.

It remains to be seen what he is alluding to, but here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to his message on social media:

It must be remembered that the North Londoners splurged £45 million on signing Thomas Partey instead of Aouar last month, and there’s a good chance that they won’t be able to afford the latter this winter.

Signing players in January is difficult at the best of times but there’s no reason why Arsenal would fare any better then than they did during the summer, if we’re honest.
