Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter after Thiago Alcântara made his Premier League debut for Liverpool against Chelsea.

The Spain international recently arrived at Anfield in a £20 million from Bayern Munich, as ESPN report. Their story also mentions that Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to his signature.

It has also been reported by ESPN that David Moyes pulled the plug on a deal for the ex-Barcelona playmaker, which had been set up by Sir Alex Ferguson just before his retirement.

A move worth £17 million was arranged by Ferguson, but Moyes did not feel he knew enough about the player and vetoed the transfer.

The Red Devils have clearly admired Thiago for a while now, which will presumably make the sight of him in a Liverpool shirt all the more painful.

The reigning Champions League winning midfielder played 45 minutes for Liverpool on his debut, impressively pulling the strings with ease.

He set a new Premier League record for passes in a 45-minute period with 75 successful efforts.

Opta state it is the highest amount since they began recording data in 2003/04.
