Tottenham Hotspur supporters are reacting on Twitter to a photo of Tyler Morton’s challenge in Liverpool’s victory last night.
The 19-year-old midfielder started his second Liverpool game in a row as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Leicester City on penalties to reach the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
Tottenham joined them in the last four by beating West Ham United in North London.
But after the Reds game, Spurs fans stumbled across a photo of Morton tackling Ricardo Pereira on 10 minutes, which earned him a yellow card.
However, that looked a lenient decision based on the stills, which illustrate that the young midfielder made contact with Pereira’s knee.
On Sunday, Liverpool supporters were outraged when Tottenham attacker Harry Kane avoided a red card against them for a foul on Andy Robertson.
Here’s what Spurs fans are saying about Morton’s tackle.
Sending off?
Well, it was definitely a red card for Morton and even Liverpool supporters will admit to this.
Then again, it’s of zero relevance to Tottenham at the end of the day.
Besides, in Morton’s defence, he’s an inexperienced teenager and, unlike the Lilywhites hitman, he won’t claim to have won the ball when the television pictures indicate otherwise.
The North Londoners were paired with Chelsea in the last four of the competition, while Liverpool drew Arsenal, who hammered Sunderland on Tuesday night.
The Gunners were seconds from having Leicester City in the semi final but Takumi Minamino netted a last-gasp equaliser at Anfield to take it to penalties, where the hosts ultimately prevailed.
