Patrick Bamford has admitted that it was a ‘horrible’ experience watching the end of Leeds United’s game as a spectator on Saturday.
The Whites picked up a first Premier League win in 16 years by beating Fulham 4-3 at Elland Road.
And the 27-year-old Leeds striker played a big role in the win by scoring his side’s third of the afternoon, sending the hosts 3-1 ahead.
But Marcelo Bielsa took him off the field on the 70-minute mark, after the Cottagers scored twice to move within one goal of a stunning comeback.
And Bamford has admitted to the club’s official website that he didn’t enjoy watching the final 20 minutes from the dugout.
He said: “That panicked us a bit [Fulham’s third goal]. It caught us off guard, but we managed in the end to see it out. Watching from the sidelines is horrible, so yeah it wasn’t a nice watch when I came off.”
The former Middlesbrough hitman now has two goals in as many Premier League games for his side, having also found the net in the narrow defeat by Liverpool at Anfield last week.
Leeds’ club-record signing of £30 million man Rodrigo will have lit a fire under Bamford, whose place in Bielsa’s first XI was directly under threat, but what a huge response from the Chelsea product and the more he keeps scoring, the harder Rodrigo will have to fight to start up front for United.
