Reality TV star Mark Wright told Soccer Special on Wednesday evening that Michail Antonio is a ‘great’ player for West Ham.

Everything went well for West Ham yesterday because their London rivals dropped points against Aston Villa, whilst they secured three points at West Brom to ensure they will play in Europe next season.

Just like he has been all season, Antonio was a threat throughout yesterday’s showdown, as he won an early penalty, which was missed, before sealing all the points for the Hammers late on.

Working for Sky, boyhood West Ham fan, Wright, praised Antonio and shared that he is hopeful that a top-six finish can be confirmed on Sunday.

“He’s a massive hero for us,” said Wright. “He’s a great player. A lovely guy as well. I have had the pleasure of meeting him as well and he’s a top pro.

“A great player for West Ham. Hopefully, we keep hold of him as long as we can.

On West Ham securing Europa League: “We have had a great season. At one point, we thought it could have been top four, maybe being ambitious, but we were in that position.

“I was speaking to somebody earlier. The last time we were in a position in Europe was years ago. Was it the Intertoto Cup? But this is a big moment for West Ham to get into the Europa League. It’s been a great season for us fans.”

Signed by Slaven Bilic in 2015 for £7 million (Sky Sports), Antonio has been used as a right-back, winger and now a thriving forward.

And he will be hoping to work his magic for the final game of the season as only a point is needed against Southampton for West Ham to secure a top-six finish.

Whether the Irons achieve that feat or not, it has been some season for the East London outfit, who were battling relegation towards the end of the last campaign and they are now planning for a European tour.
