Aston Villa fans are pleased to hear Frederic Guilbert squash rumours that he could be heading for the exit door this summer.

Rumours continue to swirl about his future at Villa Park, with French outlet L’Equipe claiming that he could be heading to Nantes back in his homeland of France.

Whilst, the Daily Mail claimed that he is one of a number of players who are set to be axed by Dean Smith this summer.

All don’t make for good reading, but Guilbert recently addressed the issue on his Instagram page with this defiant message.

It’s fair to say that the Villa Park faithful are chuffed to hear that Guilbert doesn’t want to go anywhere because he has become a popular figure at the club.

They made it clear whilst he wants to stay in the West Midlands, they don’t want him to go anywhere either.

Even though Smith already has Guilbert and Ahmed Elmohamady as his right-backs, he decided to add another name to the ring this summer in Matty Cash, who joined from Nottingham Forest.

It clearly raises the question as to whether one of Guilbert or Elmohamady may depart, but it could also mean that Smith is possibly favouring a three at the back.

If that’s the case then one of the above two could then be deployed as a right-sided centre-back, which would please the Villa faithful, no doubt.

Here is how they reacted to Guilbert’s Instagram message:
