It looks like Liverpool will have to make do without Naby Keita for next week’s Merseyside derby with Everton.
Jurgen Klopp’s side travel across the city for the most exciting meeting with Everton in years.
But Liverpool, the Premier League champions, will be without the former Leipzig midfielder.
It was reported by The Daily Star this afternoon that the 25-year-old had tested positive for the virus that has spread around the globe this year.
And as a result, Keita will have to self-isolate for a period of two weeks, ruling him out of the trip to Goodison Park.
Here’s how Jose Enrique reacted to the blow on Instagram:
The good news here is that Liverpool should have Thiago Alcantara back to replace the Guinea international.
Thiago posted a photo of himself on Twitter walking around the city on Saturday, indicating that his period of isolation has ended and he should, in theory, be permitted to return to training at Melwood.
Everton have won all four of their Premier League games this season, making this a fascinating derby.
And although Keita might be a big miss, Thiago coming back is a massive gain.
