Aston Villa fans have shared their thoughts on Steve Bruce wanting Axel Tuanzebe at Newcastle.
The 23-year-old is seemingly heading for the Old Trafford exit door this summer – on a temporary deal – with Newcastle and Villa keen on his talents.
Tuanzebe worked with Bruce at Villa Park when they were in the Championship and now it seems as though he wants a reunion at St James’.
Villa fans have offered a mixed response to this news, with some thinking that moving up north would serve the centre-back better, but others feel he would be of better service in B6.
The Manchester United academy product was on-loan at Villa for 18 months – the second half of the 2017/18 season and the duration of the 2018/19 campaign.
Bruce hardly used him during his first spell, but injuries did cut his time short in the Midlands, whilst he was used at right-back in his second spell, before he was sacked by the club in October.
It was Dean Smith who got the best out of Tuanzebe’s talents, which also saw him lining up alongside Tyrone Mings for Villa’s Championship play-off win against Derby in 2019.
And now, it seems as though he will return to familiar grounds in either the West Midlands or working alongside a familiar face again in Bruce.
In truth, Tuanzebe doesn’t get ahead of Ezri Konsa or Mings at Villa, but he might just slip straight in alongside Jamaal Lascelles at Newcastle.
Here is a selection of Villa fans reacting to the Newcastle and Tuanzebe rumours:
