Rory Wilson has posted on Instagram he is ‘honoured’ to finally be in Aston Villa colours after he joined from Scottish Premiership side, Rangers.
On Monday, the 16-year-old would have enjoyed his first day at Bodymoor Heath as a new chapter of his very young career begins.
The highly-rated striker wouldn’t have been the only one showcasing himself for the first time to his new fans because Diego Carlos was also on Midlands soil for the first time.
Following the centre-back’s transfer from Sevilla, the 29-year-old has been brought in for the here and now, with Wilson further boosting Villa’s thriving academy.
Nonetheless, this is what Wilson posted on IG after his deal from Rangers was confirmed and he was seen pictured in the Claret & Blue colours.
SHORT-TERM PLANS FOR WILSON?
Down the line, Villa will be hoping Wilson follows in the footsteps of the likes of Jacob Ramsey and starts making name for himself in the first-team.
But, for now, it’s going to be interesting to see what Villa do with him and how they use him because it might just be a case of playing academy football and making himself known.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter that Wilson scored 49 goals at youth level last season, so perhaps the next aim is to raise the bat for next season?
Joking aside, with Ramsey in the first-team, Villa trio, Tim Iroegbunam, Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Ramsey recently winning the U19 European Championships with England, including the latter two scoring in the final, then it further proves that the club’s academy is going to another high level.
