Does Everton manager Ronald Koeman need to learn that honesty is not always the best policy?
A bright start to the campaign saw suggestions of Everton doing a Leicester in terms of winning the title this season, and whilst it seemed far fetched, they were steadily improving under Ronald Koeman. Unfortunately, the last couple of results have not been as positive and as a result Toffees fans have come crashing back down to earth.
The same can also be said of manager Ronald Koeman. In the last few days the Dutchman has made some interesting comments in the media, with one of them to Belgian newspaper HLN being that he feels Romelu Lukaku needs to leave the club in order to fulfil his huge potential.

This could easily be perceived as a bizarre revelation. The fact that he openly admitted Everton’s stature as a club is not on par with others is one thing, but the impact it had on both fans and probably Lukaku himself could be very costly.
The 53-year-old has a tendency to say what he thinks, and in the past he also has not been shy in revealing alot of his techniques behind the scenes. It might feel like a nice change of pace to some, but all he is doing is opening the door for other managers and players to further understand the goings on at Everton.
Secrecy can be an important thing in football, and some of these comments seem very damaging on the face of it for Koeman. He should not just be lieing down and accepting that his star player needs to move to another side, because all that is going to do is dampen the early spirits of the Goodison Park faithful.
