Pep Guardiola has sent out a transfer message to FC Barcelona over Manchester City star Raheem Sterling. With the Catalan side reportedly keen on the attacker.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the City manager was asked about Barcelona’s interest in the £15m-a-year forward. And to some surprise, Guardiola didn’t rule out such a transfer.
Sterling has been in and out of the City starting XI this season despite a stunning summer with England at Euro 2020. The winger has seen his regular spot gone with Gabriel Jesus now favoured out on the right-wing.
Indeed, it still looked likely that Sterling would remain at City given his club-high wages. Yet when asked if Sterling could join Barcelona, Guardiola gave a response that indicated that a transfer could happen.
The Catalan manager said: “Honestly, I have no idea. I don’t know anything. Not that I would tell you anyway. If Barcelona want any of our players, I am think they can get them. Barca continues to be an attractive club, more than attractive.”
Guardiola added: “If Barcelona are interested in our player, they will start the machinery, it is transatlantic. Barcelona, in the good and the bad, can do what they want.”
Sterling could be off to Barcelona after Guardiola comments

Sterling has been part of the furniture at City for some time, yet Guardiola’s recent comments on the winger could indicate that Barcelona might make a move for the England international.
With Barcelona in need of a revamp following the arrival of new manager Xavi Hernandez, Sterling could become the first big-name player to join the La Liga giants if the attacker decides to leave for Catalonia.
