Luis Garcia has stated on Twitter that Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford should have been sent off for his challenge on Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk in the Merseyside derby this afternoon.

The former Liverpool star believes that it was a red-card offence from Pickford in the Premier League game today.

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has also stated on Twitter that the England international should have been dismissed for his challenge on Van Dijk.

The challenge from Pickford on the former Celtic and Southampton star came after just 11 minutes and saw the Netherlands international get substituted due to injury.

Entertaining Merseyside derby

In terms of entertainment and goals, the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park was a great watch and ended in a 2-2 draw.

Liverpool took the lead twice, and on both occasions, the Toffees came back, as Carlo Ancelotti’s side showed that they mean business.

Everton went down to 10 men on 90 minutes due to the dismissal of Richarlison, and deep into injury time Jordan Henderson’s goal was ruled out.
