Gary Neville dismissed talk of Liverpool pushing for the quadruple this season, as he posted on his own Instagram.

The former England right-back made it clear to Jamie Carragher that Manchester City aren’t the only team that can stop them from reaching such a feat in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp and his players already have one trophy in their cabinet for this campaign, after they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley.

If they win their remaining ten Premier League matches, then they will be crowned champions and they are due to face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Added with that, they already have their name in the hat for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

But when Carragher brought up talk about the Reds pushing for all the trophies, Neville shared this response.

“We are going for the quadruple, aren’t we?” said Carragher.

Neville asked: “How many trophies are Liverpool going to win this season?”

Carragher responded: “If someone offered me right now, one of the big ones, in terms of the Premier League or the Champions League. I would bite their hand off.”

Neville then added: “Isn’t that the most obvious thing of all time, if someone offered you a Champions League or a Premier League, then you would bite their hand off?”

JC: “Yeh, but you are talking about they could win four.”

GN: “What do you mean four?! Honestly, this time every year.”

JC: “It’s only Man City that could stop them in all of the competitions.”

GN: “What and you don’t think one of the other teams in Europe can beat Liverpool? You don’t think Chelsea can beat them?”

JC: “They could, but you would favour Liverpool. The one I would be worried about is Man City. That’s when I think it would be a 50-50 game.”

GN: “I am not too sure about that, to be fair.”

Liverpool fans will be craving one of the big ones – the Premier League or the Champions League.

They will feel they can get over the line in one of those competitions, and in truth, fans would probably take being champions of England again.

The pandemic hit just as Liverpool won their last title, which meant that fans weren’t able to celebrate with the players, both at the stadium or on the streets of Merseyside.

But, in terms of quadruple talk, there is a reason why no team in English history has completed such a feat and Liverpool aren’t going to start that anytime soon.
