‘Honestly baffled’: Some Liverpool fans react to call on reported Reds target at Euro 2020

Liverpool fans were left stunned on Twitter after Jadon Sancho was left out of England’s squad for their Euro 2020 opening group game win against Croatia on Sunday.

Before the game, some would have been debating whether the reported Liverpool target should start for his country at the European Championships.

But not only was Sancho left out of the starting XI, but he didn’t even make the 23-man England squad for yesterday’s game.

Liverpool fans couldn’t understand why a man of his talents, qualities, threat and creative speed wasn’t even considered.

Gareth Southgate made a number of big calls at Wembley, including selecting Kieran Trippier at left-back and playing two holders in Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice.

The latter call worked a treat because Phillips was Man of the Match, but many still think Sancho still deserved a spot on the bench.

Instead, two goalkeepers were selected on the bench ahead of the Dortmund star, who might be on the move this summer.

The Athletic have claimed in recent weeks that Liverpool are monitoring Sancho’s situation, who could be heading out of Germany and back to England after Euro 2020.
