Tottenham Hotspur supporters are taking to Twitter after Antonio Conte confirmed a massive boost on Friday.
The Lilywhites are gearing up for one of their bigger tests under the Italian manager since he arrived as Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor in November.
Tottenham are away to Chelsea on Sunday evening, but Conte confirmed an enormous boost for the visitors.
According to the 52-year-old manager, a certain Eric Dier is available for Spurs.
The England international hasn’t kicked a ball for the North Londoners since the victory at Watford on New Year’s Day.
Since then, Tottenham have shipped seven goals in all competitions which, considering it was only three weeks ago, is a poor defensive record without Dier.
However, Dier, potentially the club’s most-improved player under Conte, is available for selection at Stamford Bridge.
And suffice to say the supporters are absolutely loving this update:
Gamechanger?
Well that’s a fair assessment, yes.
As mentioned, Tottenham have shipped seven goals in three weeks without Dier.
That’s the same number they shipped in Conte’s first two months as Lilywhites manager so, really, the proof is in the pudding.
The North Londoners’ prospects are significantly brighter with Dier in central than defence than without him.
With Davinson Sanchez also impressive lately, Tottenham are becoming a water-tight outfit under the former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach.
And remember, Cristian Romero is close to returning from injury and given Conte favours a three-man defence, well those three could make Spurs a completely different team.
