Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has grown on him.
Crooks made the comments about Hojbjerg while including the Tottenham midfielder in his Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport.
The former Tottenham forward has admitted that the Denmark international was never one of his favourite players.
However, the BBC Sport pundit has now changed his opinion on the 26-year-old and has praised his performance against Aston Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League yesterday.
The former Southampton star scored in the 27th minute, as Nuno’s side won 2-1.
Crooks wrote about Hojbjerg on BBC Sport: “He was never one of my favourite players when he played for Southampton but I must say he has grown on me since his arrival at Spurs.
“He’s one of the few Tottenham players that have some grit to their game. You can also trust him in a battle and at times the game against Aston Villa became just that.
“What was impressive, however, was the way Hojbjerg took his goal. He did it with consummate composure and in a manner that suggests Tottenham or their manager are not under any pressure at all – and we know that’s not true.”
Important player for Tottenham Hotspur
Hojbjerg is a very good midfielder who is a key figure in the Tottenham team.
The 26-year-old is not exactly a world-class midfielder, but he works hard, gives his all on the pitch, protects the back-line and also tries to drive the team forward.
Hojbjerg played in all 38 Premier League matches for Spurs last season, and has played seven times in the league so far this campaign.
For Spurs to finish in the Premier League top four this season, the Dane will have to on top of his game throughout.
