Hojbjerg’s Southampton lost out to United on Friday night
Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been quoted as telling reporters by the club’s official website that the Saints could have done more against Manchester United, saying their final ball was not good enough.
Jose Mourinho’s side ran out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford on Friday night, their second win of the campaign.
The Saints were undone by a Zlatan Ibrahimovic double, with the legendary Swedish forward opening the scoring during the first half with a towering header before putting the game to bed from the spot after Luke Shaw was tripped by Jordie Clasie straight after the restart.

And Hojbjerg believes the Saints could have done more against the Red Devils, saying that all the visitors were missing was a better final pass.
“I think we could have done more. We should have done more. We had quite a lot of the ball and dominated quite a bit,” he said after the game, via the club’s website.
“But it’s about the last pass and scoring a goal. If we keep on working on the small details then I think we can improve ourselves a lot.
“I think if we concentrated a little more in the final pass we could have created some big opportunities. We didn’t and we lost two-nil.”

Southampton enjoyed a far greater share of possession against the Red Devils, and also had more attempts on goal – 13 to United’s 12.
But they were unable to break down their opponent’s defence, ending a run of two consecutive victories at Old Trafford from their last two visits.
Next up for Southampton is the visit of David Moyes’ Sunderland, who face Middlesbrough in the Wear-Tees derby on Sunday.
