Ralph Hasenhuttl missed out on the Everton job to Sean Dyche but could soon return to management with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
Everton decided to sack Frank Lampard this time two weeks ago, parting ways with the Chelsea legend.
The Toffees decided to go with former Burnley boss Dyche as their new manager, and the 1-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday suggests this could be a marriage made in heaven.
Other managers were under consideration for the Everton job and one of them was Hasenhuttl.
Sky Sports reported that Everton had a real interest in appointing Hasenhuttl as their new manager.
The Austrian’s time in charge of Southampton gave him the Premier League experience Everton were looking for and they seriously looked into a deal.
A move for Hasenhuttl never really materialised and David Ornstein has told Sky Sports News that he understood Hasenhuttl was unlikely to want the role in the end anyway.

Ralph Hasenhuttl could return to Germany after Everton links
Hasenhuttl may not have to wait much longer for his return to management though.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Hasenhuttl is now the top choice to become the next Hoffenheim manager.
Hoffenheim decided to sack manager Andre Breitenreiter today after losing 5-2 to VfL Bochum over the weekend.
Hoffenheim have now won just once in their last 13 Bundesliga games and Breitenreiter has paid the price with his job.
Now 14th in the Bundesliga table and just five points clear of the relegation spots, Hoffenheim need a turnaround.
Hasenhuttl is now the man Hoffenheim want to rejuvenate the club – just a couple of weeks after Everton eyed him for a similar role.
Hasenhuttl has history in German football with SpVgg Unterhaching, VfR Aalen, Ingolstadt and RB Leipzig, so a return to the Bundesliga may appeal – possibly even more than another Premier League job.
