Newcastle United reportedly want Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend.

Andros Townsend may have failed to make a huge impact at Tottenham Hotspur, but the England international winger has been superb for Crystal Palace for the past two seasons.
Revival at Crystal Palace
The 26-year-old winger failed to establish himself as a regular in the Tottenham first team during his time at White Hart Lane and had several loan spells, but the Englishman is a key figure at Palace.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Townsend scored three goals and provided four assists in 30 Premier League starts for Palace, while last season, the winger scored two goals and providing seven assists in 35 league starts for the London club.
Newcastle United interest
There is no surprise that the Englishman is reportedly wanted by Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are interested in signing the winger who spent just half a season at St. James’ Park before leaving in the summer of 2016 for Palace for a transfer fee reported by The Times to be worth £13 million.

Staying put
However, Palace manager Roy Hodgson has said that he does not plan to sell Townsend, who earns £55,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.
Hodgson told Football.London: “There can be as much speculation as you like, and [Andros] Townsend is in a similar situation – he has got three years on his contract, and we have no interest at all in selling Andros Townsend.”
