Glenn Hoddle has told BT Sport that he felt Harry Kane was very clever in the last minute of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Fulham on Thursday.

With Tottenham 1-0 up in the closing stages, Fulham gave the ball away deep inside Spurs’s half.

The home side had almost everyone pushed forward, which allowed Tottenham the opportunity to break.

Both Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura appeared to be free, with just one Fulham defender back.

However, rather than attempt a risky pass, which could have been intercepted, Kane thought about his team’s predicament.

The England captain simply ran down the line to ensure that his side kept the ball, and he was ultimately fouled by Joe Bryan.

It meant that Tottenham could see the game out, without having any extra pressure put on them.

And Hoddle felt that the Spurs goalscorer deserved credit for some seriously smart play in the very last minute.

He said: “That was very clever, he could have changed the play to Moura and was free on the right hand side but Kane knew exactly what to do. His manager will be delighted with that.”

Tottenham’s win over Fulham means that they have now won back to back games, with optimism flooding back to the North London club now.

Spurs are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Crystal Palace.
