Glenn Hoddle has told BT Sport, during their live Europa League coverage, that Dele Alli is giving the ball away far too much for Tottenham Hotspur.
Alli was given what has become a rare start for Spurs last night, but he didn’t take his opportunity to impress.
The attacking midfielder was hooked at half-time, as Spurs fell to a 1-0 defeat against Antwerp.
And Hoddle was critical of the England international’s display at full-time.
“This was his opportunity and Jose put him and and said ‘put it (a good performance) between my eyes. But it just didn’t happen for him,” he said.
“In his overall game, he’s giving the ball away too much at times. His options are there and he’s trying his best but it’s not happening for him. Sloppy play is not going to get him back in the team.”

Alli had one great opportunity to play Gareth Bale through early on in the contest, but he made the wrong decision and tried a far more difficult ball to Carlos Vinicius, which went wrong.
It was a signal that things just aren’t going right for Alli at the moment, and he now faces a real fight to save his Tottenham career.
Mourinho was clearly fuming at full-time and suggested that his fringe players were unlikely to be given another chance to catch the eye any time soon.
That could mean that Alli misses out on playing at the weekend, when Tottenham take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
