Liverpool vs Manchester City is going to be one hell of a quarter-final showdown.

Liverpool are currently gearing up for a vital few weeks, as they prepare to take on fellow Premier League side Manchester City in a two-legged UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie.
To say the games are important would be a dramatic understatement, as the Reds and City battle to be the only English team left standing in the UCL final four. So far this season they’ve split victories, with Jurgen Klopp’s side causing City’s only league defeat to date in what has been a sensational season.
Alas, despite that accomplishment, many supporters are putting the success of their entire season on whether or not they fail to progress against the runaway Premier League leaders. While it’s understandable to be overly passionate, Liverpool Football Club’s entire season will not be defined by whether or not they can continue on in Europe’s biggest club competition.

As previously stated, the Reds have already proven they can beat City this season – and in reality, that’s already something to build on in the next few years. The aim will obviously be for Liverpool to upset the odds and win the European Cup for the sixth time, but if they don’t, it won’t be the end of the world.
The Reds look like an entirely different team under the current setup, and nobody would’ve expected them to make a run quite as remarkable as this. It’s important to maintain realistic expectations, and with Liverpool still trying to balance their aim of finishing in the top four itself, it’s understandable that Klopp will have to manage his resources.

With that in mind, people shouldn’t criticise the Merseyside club if they can’t get past City – who can focus most of their attention competition now. Why? Because they’ve got a 16-point lead in the Premier League, and even if they drop a few points with weakened teams, they’ve got the strength in numbers to stroll towards the title three times over.
This Manchester City team is the best we’ve seen in English football for a long time, and Liverpool should have a ‘nothing to lose’ attitude here. Their campaign will be defined by the phenomenal work of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and other top stars, in addition to some of their world class attacking performances.
Win or lose, progress is being made at Anfield.
