Liverpool’s team spirit seems to be working wonders for them this season.

This season has been the Mohamed Salah show in more ways than one, as the Egyptian forward has been able to make some remarkable strides in his first full season of competing in English football.

The Liverpool man has defied all expectations by becoming the break-out star of the 2017/18 Premier League season, and it’s not just the fans that noticed. As reported by Sky Sports, Reds defender Virgin van Dijk has had some interesting thoughts regarding the overwhelming success of the 25-year-old’s tenure thus far.

“I think everyone in the dressing room are just normal guys. Nobody feels better than each other, everybody is working hard for each other to get the win,” van Dijk told Sky Sports.

“That’s a very good thing to have in a team. Everyone knows our team spirit and without all of us Mo wouldn’t have scored his goals.”

These remarks came after he praised Salah earlier in the piece, and just from this interview alone, you can tell that Jurgen Klopp is building a unity at Anfield which we haven’t seen in a long time. With the likes of Gerrard/Torres or Sturridge/Suarez, it never seemed as if the team as a whole were gelling enough to launch Liverpool into that next level.

Whether that be due to egos to just a lack of ability to piece it all together, things certainly didn’t feel as positive as they do right now. These Liverpool players are battling for the badge on their chest, and a lot of that can be put down to Jurgen Klopp.

This is a manager who clearly lives for the highlight reel moments and has the charisma necessary to bring these results out of his teams. We’ve seen this kind of thing before, but rarely do you get a boss who can combine it with the tactical mindset and man management required to reach the very top.

Their last-gasp win over Crystal Palace was enough of an indicator, and just seeing what van Dijk is saying makes it feel like there’s a family atmosphere on Merseyside- even for those who have only been at the club for a few months.

The Reds will look to take this momentum into their Champions League tie with Manchester City.
