Rangers forward Kenny Miller has quite the history at Ibrox.
Kenny Miller has been at the forefront of the Rangers revival for a few years now and, as he enters the latter stages of his career, his legacy at the club needs to be appreciated.
The 38-year-old forward could very easily leave Ibrox at the end of the season, and with that, he could also mark the end of his illustrious career. From England to Canada to Scotland, Miller has been around the world scoring vital goals and making an impression at over half a dozen clubs from Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Alas, all good things must come to an end, and with Miller’s likely departure being set to take place in the next 12 months, it is worth talking about how he should be regarded by fans moving forward.
Bizarrely enough Miller’s first reign at the club began nearly two decades ago and, just a few months into his tenure, he managed to net five goals in one Scottish Premiership game, which still stands as a record to this day. Following an inconsistent run from that point on he left the club and, a few years later, found himself across the city turning out for bitter rivals Celtic.
While it will be seen as a black mark on his record, it is part of the narrative, and you could argue that Miller’s poor run there was forgiven when he became only the second player in history to move from one Old Firm club to the other on two separate occasions. If you are a betting man or woman, then put some money on that event never happening again.
With so many European goals to his name and so many calling him out for his leadership abilities, it is no surprise to see that Miller was also willing to drop down a level in order to help Rangers reach the top flight after years of uncertainty.
Miller has won league titles, cup finals and has even worn the legendary number nine shirt, and when you consider that he did that across three separate stints with Rangers, his work needs to be appreciated.
