Wolves manager Walter Zenga has given the latest update on when Nouha Dicko will finally make his return to the first team.
Wolves fans have been clamouring for the return of Nouha Dicko for months following the striker’s cruciate knee ligament injury over a year ago. He is set to make a huge impact upon his return given what kind of form he was in before he went out of action, but unfortunately as reported by Express & Star manager Walter Zenga feels it is still too early for him to come back into the first team.
“We make a programme with him, I speak with him weekly,” Zenga said.
“After one year that he’s far from the games, he needs to work with the under-23s, play some games of 90 minutes, try to give him continuity which is important because it’s more than one year.
“I spoke with him last week and we are in our schedule. He knows when we have to try and bring him back in the first team. Now, it’s too early.”
Zenga was referring to Dicko’s five appearances for the under-23s side, with the most recent coming last week against Middlesbrough. The 24-year-old will be hoping he can get back to his best for Wolves, with fans still fondly remembering the inter-play of himself, Benik Afobe and Bakary Sako.
Those two have both moved on to new pastures, meanwhile Dicko will be hoping that he can join them in the promised land of the Premier League by helping Wolves to promotion sooner rather than later.
