Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have defended John Ruddy against a small portion of the fanbase.

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have reacted to some members of the Molineux faithful who criticised the performance of goalkeeper John Ruddy during last night’s 2-2 draw against Norwich City.

The game had been slipping away from Wolves ever since the Canaries pulled a goal back in the first half, but it was the late equaliser which left a sour taste in the mouths of many supporters.

Some believe that Ruddy was at fault for Nelson Oliveira’s dramatic late equaliser, which appeared to slip through his fingers in the dying minutes of the game. Others tend to disagree, believing that Ruddy’s body of work since coming into the first team speaks volumes about how well he has done for the club.

The 31-year-old has always considered himself to be a perfectionist, which is hardly a bad thing when you are in a sport as scrutinised as this. With that in mind, it must have been a difficult night for him considering he not only was seen to be at fault for the goal, but also because he was going up against the side he played for over 240 times.

Given the number of clean sheets he has recorded in recent months, he will almost certainly maintain his place in the starting line-up throughout the remainder of the season, barring a dramatic run of bad form.

With that being said, Ruddy, alongside all of his Wolves teammates, have been able to rebound brilliantly to poor results, which is one of the main reasons why they find themselves so clear of the pack at the top of the Championship.
