As reported by Express & Star, three of the heroes from Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2003 promotion campaign will reunite in early March.

Dave Jones, Paul Butler and Matt Murray will all be on stage at the ECC Sports & Social Club on March 1 as they look back at their historic achievement in its 15th anniversary year.

All three men were instrumental on that famous day at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, where Wolves defeated Sheffield United 3-0 in order to confirm their return to the top flight for the first time in almost two decades.

Jones led from the front as the boss, and regardless of the club’s failure to stay up the following year, he will likely always go down as a Wolves legend for that one achievement alone.

Paul Butler was not quite as successful on the actual day as he gave away a penalty in the second half, although his tenure with the club did see him become captain for the actual final.

Matt Murray is widely recognised as being the man who could have and probably should have been England’s number one, but alas, injuries ensured that his once-promising career came to an end.

With tickets being available for just £10, which includes a photo opportunity, this one is a no-brainer for any Wolves fan looking to reminisce about the glory days. The timing of the event is interesting too, given that 15 years on Wolves are once again in a solid position as they try to push for a place in the Premier League.

There is a positive atmosphere surrounding Wolverhampton right now with a huge part of that being the success of the old gold & black, and nostalgia will also play a big part in their upcoming game this Saturday.

Wolves will host QPR at Molineux in the exact same fixture that saw them gain promotion back in 2009, meaning that nearly a decade on, they could take yet another huge step towards replicating the success of these 2003 heroes.
