Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers will face 14th-placed Norwich City at Molineux tonight, but the old gold & black should not be taking the Canaries lightly.

Wolves have seemingly been destined for a return to the Premier League ever since the campaign kicked off in August, and now they are just a handful of games away from confirming their return to the top flight.

While it does seem like a good bet to suggest Wolves will be one of the three new faces heading up in May, sides like Norwich will have something to say about that.

One of the things everyone knows to be true in the Championship is this: when you are on a hot run late in the season, nobody wants to play you. With just one loss in their last nine league games, Norwich are one of those teams, and history has told us that Wolves could be put under pressure if they do not come out firing at Molineux.

For example, Wolves looked a shadow of themselves at the weekend when they faced a Preston North End side that had only won two of their previous six games in all competitions. If it was not for a fortunate red card decision, Wolves could easily have come away from the game with nothing.

Meanwhile, in Norwich’s last game, they snatched a dramatic last-minute point against local rivals Ipswich Town. That is the definition of a momentum kick-starter and, when you look at the history books, the Canaries tend to do well when they come up against the Midlands side.

Norwich have only lost two of their last ten games against Wolves, which is a record that dates back over a decade, and tonight they have a real chance to make a statement once again.

Wolves are certainly still the favourites, but they cannot afford to start slowly.
