With all of the fascination surrounding Wolves this season some fans are expecting promotion back to the Premier League.

It is understandable that some Wolves fans will get carried away with expectations given the excitement of the last few months. However, they need to learn to be more realistic with what they can achieve. After so many years of disappointment off the back of losing their Premier League status, stability is the key.

That one word, stability, is something that many clubs look for. Wolverhampton Wanderers have not been able to obtain it in quite some time, and the fact that they now have the chance to seize it is more important than any potential transfer.

With so many clubs that have gained promotion to the Premier League, their success has come off the back of a great run of form. That great run tends to take them up through the play-offs, and they tend to wind up being favourites for relegation the following season.

The problem with promotions of that nature is the fact they are not prepared for the top flight. They will spend a good portion of the summer basking in the glory of their achievement as opposed to transforming their squad into a team that can survive in the Premier League.

Whether or not that would actually happen to Wolves is a different question, however it is certainly a possibility given how quickly their fortunes have turned around. That is not to say promotion would not be a fantastic achievement, but another year of allowing the team to gel wouldn’t be the end of the world.

It would also give Zenga time to analyse his squad and really work out the differences between the two divisions. He is known for having managed 16 clubs in 18 years, and he needs to allow himself to solidify his position at the club and make it his own.

There is so much potential within this Wolves side that it is only natural people would be expecting big things, but if they want to achieve success then fans need to have patience. It does not happen overnight.
