Attendances have not been great at Molineux so far this season, and there is a pretty simple reason why.

The excitement of the takeover captured the imagination of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans up and down the country, with many believing this was the catalyst for another run at the Premier League. Unfortunately, many fans seem to have expected that to happen imminently despite not showing their support through attendances.
This issue goes back quite a few years now and it is a mentality that has been ingrained in the club every since relegation to League One. You see, the year of that relegation saw miserable Championship results intertwined with players who did not care about the team they were playing for and a string of different managers.
Trust was gone at the club. The trust that fans had poured into Wolves had vanished, and as a result they went too. League One oddly saw a resurgence, but it appears as if floating around in the second tier is not good enough for some fickle fans who feel entitled to more due to the club’s history.

Supporting a football team means sticking with them through thick and thin, but unfortunately the wounds of recent times gone by have really affected supporters’ perspectives on going to games.
It seems irreversible, and yet the away followings seem to be stronger than ever. Maybe it is Molineux itself as some do not enjoy the facilities or structure of the ground, which makes sense in a way.
All of a sudden it has become a stubborn game of chicken, and Wolves fans are still not prepared to lose until they get what they feel they deserve.
