The North London derby always seems to live up to the potential year in and year out with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal continually giving it their all.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal hate each other – that much we know. For at least two fixtures a year they battle it out and more often than not, we always seem to get a thoroughly entertaining game out of it.

As can sometimes be the case with derby games they tend to fizzle out due to the expectation of securing bragging rights, however that does not seem to be the case for these two.

To put it as simply as possible, that comes down to quality. Over the course of the last two decades at least these two bitter rivals have always maintained their position as some of the top dogs in the Premier League.

From the Henry and Klinsmann era all the way up to Sanchez and Kane, those talisman-esque stars ensure that the tension and anger between the sides is always channelled into an entertaining game.

The one-sided nature of the rivalry in the past continues to up the stakes, too. With St Totteringham’s Day continually being celebrated by Gunners fans, it adds that extra spice to every single derby.

There is always a point to prove one way or another with Arsenal having been more dominant in one rivalry than most around the world. As much as Spurs have improved, their stature still pales in comparison to Wenger’s men.

Even with a 1-1 draw at the weekend which some would consider dull, it was still a back and forth affair. There are not many, if any derbies around the globe that can compare in terms of natural ability to the North London sides.
