As Gary Rowett looks for his next job in football, Nottingham Forest could prove to be the perfect choice.

It is no coincidence that Gary Rowett’s departure from Birmingham City coincided with a period of panic at the club.

Many fans were surprised by the decision and it left Rowett himself in an extremely powerful position regarding where his career may take him next.

Some believe he will go up to the top flight while others feel he should stay in the Championship, but either way it is going to be an interesting few weeks or even months.

In terms of potentially available jobs, there are a number of clubs that may be looking for new managers in due course. One of them is Nottingham Forest, with their form as of late leaving Philippe Montanier in a tricky position at the City Ground.

Step right up, Rowett, with the Sun claiming Forest are interested.

Much like Birmingham, Forest have a good financial backing behind them in addition to a strong history that includes back-to-back European Cups.

Now while some may think that is not important in the modern day, it has left them with an extremely passionate and dedicated fan base that does not appear to waiver as easily as Blues fans did in signs of trouble.

That could prove to be a huge contributing factor here. Rowett also knows how to build something from the ground up and there is already a decent foundation at Forest, in addition to the fact they are not too far behind Birmingham in terms of league position.

The expectations will not initially be too high, which will allow Rowett to take his time and first steady the ship before reconstructing his side in the summer.

Given the other teams up for grabs, this could be the best course of action aside from a move to Carrow Road which seems increasingly unlikely.
