Two Midlands-based footballers have the honour of being called the most fouled players in the Championship so far this season.

Over the years certain players have always been targeted more than others, whether that is for their personality, reputation or overall ability. As reported by Birmingham Mail, two players from the Second City share the honour of drawing the most fouls from the opposition.

Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson and Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish are the men in question, with both drawing an average of 3.4 fouls per game. Some may say that may occur for Donaldson due to his commanding nature in the centre forward position, meanwhile Grealish has the natural ability that is bound to induce hatred from the opposition.

Donaldson has also won three penalties so far this season, alongside his strike partner Che Adams who won two in one game against Fulham. No side has been awarded more spot kicks than the Blues so far this year, and all this data will validate manager Gary Rowett’s claims that Donaldson needs more protection from referees.

Both Donaldson and Grealish will be back on the hit list when their sides face QPR and Newcastle this weekend.
