Three ways Zenga has transformed Wolves in just a few months

Walter Zenga has certainly divided opinion in his short time at Molineux, but he has also gone a long way to fixing the problems that the club had.

For years Wolves have always been considered a candidate for promotion whenever they are in the second tier, and that expectancy comes with being such a historically successful club. Unfortunately in recent years those successes have been few and far between, however under new manager Walter Zenga the good times may well be returning.

Passion

It sounds like the most simple of things, but having the passion necessary to mount a successful campaign is extremely important. Under Kenny Jackett the players only ever really seemed to have that motivation for a few months at a time, and their promotion from the third tier was just inevitable given the talent they had.

Zenga seems to have brought the belief back to the players, and they are starting to work as a unit and fight for results as opposed to settling for them. They will pick up more points from their determination and work rate alone if they can maintain it.

Transfer Dealings

Without the money poured in by the new Chinese owners, Zenga obviously would not have the ability to bring in all these new players. However, a strong transfer window is something the club haven’t had for years, and the fact the Italian went ahead and signed such big names is a great sign of intent.

He is also easing them into the team very gradually, which will allow for them all to settle into the squad and get used to the style of play.

Confidence

Ever since their drop down from the Premier League, Wolves have not seemed to go into many games with confidence. Even back in League One it seemed like they were going through the motions of every victory instead of actually believing in their own ability.

Now the Midlands side go into every contest knowing that they have the skills necessary to win the game and continue to move up the league. Whether or not it will last is a different matter, but right now Zenga has the fans and media believing once again.
