Relegation is always a bitter pill to swallow, but these teams take it to a whole new level with the most Premier League relegations in history.

A good deal of football fans up and down the country have experienced the pain of relegation, especially if you support a Football League side. A season that started with high expectations ends with the bitter feeling of dejection, with the realisation that the quality of teams your side will be playing has just dropped.

These two sides in particular know that feeling better than any other, having experienced the most relegations from the Premier League in history. It is one thing going from the Championship to League One, but having to say goodbye to the best league in the world is never an easy thing to do.

Crystal Palace – Four relegations

The Eagles have had their fair share of heartbreak over the years with four relegations to deal with. These took place in 1992/93, 1994/95, 1997/98 and finally in 2004/05.

The last one was particularly heart-wrenching as they were involved in a four-team scuffle for survival on the final day, in which they were out of the bottom three on numerous occasions.

They are currently enjoying a longer spell in the top flight under manager Alan Pardew, however the threat of relegation is something that is always looming in the back of Palace fans’ minds.

Norwich City – Four relegations

The Canaries joined Palace on four relegations this past May, having experienced something of a yo-yo effect in recent years.

They were first relegated back in 1994/95, which came just a few seasons after a Champions League appearance and a push for the title, and it took quite a while for them to return to the top flight.

Their next three drops to the Championship happened in 2004/05, 2013/14 and finally 2015/16. Despite all this negativity, they’re enjoying their spell back in the second tier as they lie in 2nd place following a solid start to the season.
