It does not need to be said, but we will anyway – Wolverhampton Wanderers are a club in turmoil. From uncertain owners to fickle fans, there is cause for concern right the way through the Midlands based club. Unfortunately, when looking back on past disappointments things get even more worrying.
Back in the 2012/13 season following their relegation from the Premier League, Wolves looked like they may in fact make an immediate return to the big time under Stale Solbakken. Then, however, things suddenly took a turn.
See if this sounds familiar. A positive foreign manager comes in and guides the club to early success, but a run of poor results leads to his dismissal half way through the season. Then a British manager comes in with some fans a tad wary of his managerial capabilities, and it becomes obvious very quickly that this is going to be a long campaign.
Now, Paul Lambert definitely has greater credentials than Dean Saunders, but it is a tad too familiar for the Molineux faithful and it is quite hard to ignore. Given how close they are to the bottom three, Lambert needs to make a real statement in the weeks to come.
