Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has stated that his tenure was the wrong time for him to be managing the club.

Tim Sherwood was certainly a polarising figure during his time at Aston Villa, just as he was in his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur. He had moments of joy in both jobs but in the grand scheme of things he never managed any prolonged periods of success. As reported by Birmingham Mail, Sherwood feels the reason for that at Villa was because they were “the right club at the very wrong time”.

The 47-year-old was sacked in October last year with just one win from the club’s opening 10 Premier League fixtures. Despite this, he did manage to keep the club in the Premier League and guide them to an FA Cup Final the previous year, but it was not enough to save his job.

Sherwood has been out of work since his departure from Villa Park, and nowadays he can more commonly be found doing punditry or popping up with comments in the media.

Whether or not he was right about his claims remains to be seen, but either way the former Premier League winner will be hoping he can improve his managerial reputation in his next job.
