Ryan Giggs has claimed that Swansea City did not match his ambitions following the meetings he had with the club about becoming their new manager.
It has been three months since Ryan Giggs left Manchester United following Jose Mourinho’s appointment, and since then the club legend had been hoping to enjoy a year off from the world of football. However, it seemed like that would be cut short after reports linking him with the job at Swansea City. As reported by ITV Sport, Giggs has spoken about how the club did not match his ambitions following the meetings he had with the Welsh side.
There were several candidates for the position, Giggs included, before the club eventually decided to go with American Bob Bradley.
“There I was enjoying my year out, having done a bit of travelling and a bit of broadcasting, and I got the call from Swansea. So I met with them a couple of times.” said the Welshman.
“But in the end, there were just mixed messages, really, from the football side and the ownership side of the club, and I just felt that their ambitions didn’t really match mine. So it didn’t quite work out.”
It seems as if Giggs will stick to broadcasting over the next few months following his departure from United following a 29-year association with the Red Devils.
Reports also suggested that the Swans did not trust his lack of experience in management as another reason for the 42-year-old not being hired.
Whatever the case, the club will continue to move forward with Bradley as they prepare to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium following the international break and get their season back on track sooner rather than later.
