Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has praised 18-year-old forward Jack Storer as the best finisher he has seen for his age.
Many players have been impressing for Birmingham City so far this season, with the club placed firmly in the top six following the first 11 games of the season. Manager Gary Rowett has given Blues fans the belief that they can once again make a charge for the play-offs, and with such a talented squad it is hard to argue with them. As reported by the Birmingham Mail, Rowett has hailed one youngster in particular for his outstanding finishing ability on BBC WM’s phone-in.
The 18-year-old Jack Storer is attempting to gain the manager’s trust following his red card against Wolverhampton Wanderers that also led to a foot injury after he kicked out on his way to the changing rooms.
“Like anything you never quite know how a young player will handle being on a first-team football pitch because it’s completely different to what he’s done before.” said Rowett.
“We saw little signs in pre-season of his aggressive nature – shall I say, and how quick we see him will be down to how he handles those opportunities.
“What I would say about him is he is a good kid, he has come in to see me a few times, he is desperate to do well.
“And I have to say, I don’t say this about many players, but at 18 I think he is probably the most natural finisher I have ever seen.”
Storer moved to Birmingham from Stevenage after initially playing for the Blues’ youth academy until under-15 level.
Either way Rowett has a great problem on his hands, with many young and hungry players ready to burst into the first-team at St Andrew’s and try to make a difference.
