Birmingham City supporters have reacted positively to their side’s victory in the Youth Cup last night.
Birmingham City supporters finally have something positive to hang their hat on after the Blues’ under 18s progressed to the semi-finals of the Youth Cup last night.
It was a tough night at Carrow Road in terms of the snowy conditions, but that did not seem to affect the Midlands outfit who ran out 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Jordan Clarke, Josh Andrews and Tommy Anderson.
With that being said, Birmingham City supporters were still able to find a way to split their joy with comparisons to the current state of the first team. As we all know, the club is in a precarious position as they face the very real prospect of relegation to the third tier, and at this stage, any kind of distraction will be welcome for the Blues’ faithful.
After all, football is a never-ending journey, and regardless of what may be happening on the pitch with BCFC, you can always look to the future for a sign of hope in this game.
These young lads will be coming up together in a system that has always managed to produce high-quality English talent, and 99% of them will have realistic ambitions of going on to become a fully fledged professional footballer, and by all accounts, they will be aiming to do it at St Andrew’s.
Some may end up seeing it as a stepping stone to move on towards greater things, but right now the Blues should be looking at taking anything they can get. After all, if they do wind up slipping down into League One, looking towards the talents of hungry youth players could be the key behind promotion.
For now, though, the fans should just sit back and use the Youth Cup journey as a welcome distraction from what’s going on around them.
