Predicting Birmingham’s next three fixtures

Following a positive start to their Championship campaign, Birmingham City will be looking forward to their next three fixtures with confidence.

There was a degree of uncertainty as to how Birmingham City would fare this season, however they have come out firing at the start of the campaign and currently find themselves in fifth after a strong run of results. As we approach October, the Blues have three interesting fixtures on the horizon.

QPR – Away

It has been a poor start to the season for Queens Park Rangers with some fans already hitting the panic button. With the money they have at their disposal big things are always expected of the club, however in recent years they have struggled to settle back into the second tier following their relegation from the Premier League.

The fortunes of both clubs are vastly different at this moment in time, and so long as the Blues can keep their composure they should be looking at this as a very winnable fixture.

Prediction: QPR 1-2 Birmingham

Preston – Home

Despite such a positive start, the Blues have had mixed results when it comes to games at St Andrews. While they have picked up wins against the likes of Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday, they have also lost to rivals Wolves and lower league Oxford.

Preston are still trying to find their footing this season, however they will be hoping that their midweek triumph over Premier League side Bournemouth can propel them to better things in the league. If Beckford is back fit he could pose some problems, and the home side will have to be on their A-game to take home all three points.

Prediction: Birmingham 2-2 Preston

Blackburn – Home

When it comes to playing Blackburn at the moment many teams will see it as a nailed on victory given their poor start to the season. However, that could be dangerous for Birmingham as being cocky and taking it easy is the worst thing you can do in a league like the Championship.

Rovers have a win under their belt now and will look at games like this as an opportunity to shock the league, given that the expectation is for them to roll over and lose. It will be close, but the Blues should have enough to grab the victory if they play their cards right.
