In the form of Nelson Oliveira, Norwich City have a striker that closely resembles a former club legend of theirs.
The man who has been fondly dubbed ‘Lord Nelson’ by some Canaries fans has lit up the Championship in recent weeks for the club.
With manager Alex Neil supposedly on his managerial death bed, the Portuguese star’s surge in form has been exactly what the doctor ordered for the 35-year-old.
In fact his performances have been so good, they have drawn comparisons to a former Carrow Road star – Dean Ashton.
Everyone knows the story of the former Englishman’s many injuries, but when fit Ashton was able to provide a certain spark or moment that always managed to lift supporters whether Norwich were losing or winning.
The natural ability they both possess is that they can both seemingly create goals out of nothing. Whether their backs are turned to goal, they have two defenders on them or they are 35 yards out there is no limit to what they can do when it comes to scoring.
There were initially some doubts regarding Oliveira as was the case for some with Ashton, but he appears to have all the attributes necessary to be a top striker in the Championship and perhaps even beyond.
At the age of 25 he has many years ahead of him, and seven goals in seven appearances is certainly the right way to make a good impression.
