As reported by Express & Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been defiant in the face of adversity following the club’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Fulham this weekend.

The defeat meant that the table-toppers have now gone three league games without a victory, with their last triumph being a nervous 2-1 affair against Queens Park Rangers. The result also ensured that Cardiff City and Aston Villa were able to make up some ground on the old gold & black, but if you are a believer in Nuno, then you will not be all too worried about that fact.

The reason for that is because as always, the Portuguese boss is more confident than ever in his team’s ability to bounce back from their latest roadblock.

“Fulham is over now,” Santo told the Express and Star.

“Now it’s our work to analyse and Monday will be good for us – this week will be good for us. Of course, we’re going to fix the problems. When don’t we do this? We always do it, we find the right solutions.

“We count on (the fans) on Saturday because together we are stronger. We’re going to show the character and bounce back.”

While they are re still a comfortable 10 points clear of the aforementioned Villa, there is certainly a sense of nerves surrounding Molineux following this recent spell of form. Of course, as Nuno said himself, they have been able to bounce back from adversity before, but the situation feels a little bit different.

The consistency of the starting XI seems to be wearing on the players, most of whom are used to having a winter break. In England, as we all know, they are not afforded that luxury – and the high-intensity schedule of the Championship appears to be catching up with them.

Still, this is an extremely talented squad from head to toe, and it will be fascinating to see whether or not Nuno can handle the kind of pressure that comes with being expected to run away with the league.
