Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo insists that his side have not lost their edge following a poor run of form.
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo is ensuring that Wolves supporters don’t start panicking too much, as he has made it clear they haven’t lost their edge despite going three league games without a victory.
As you would expect, some members of the Molineux faithful have gone into meltdown over the last few weeks, as the Championship leaders have been dropping points more so than they have done all season long. Thankfully smarter heads have prevailed for the most part and they have come to realise that these streaks can happen from time to time, which is a mentality manager Nuno wants to echo throughout the fan base.
When speaking to Express & Star, the Portuguese wizard came out fighting.
“How we play dictates what we do,” he said. “We haven’t lost our edge. We don’t care about the table. We are preparing and building something.”
While looking towards the future can be a risky move when there are still a few months of the campaign left, that is not what Nuno is doing here. He may be focused on building something big as opposed to the league table itself but, if they start to analyse the teams around them in addition to their points tally then Wolves could crumble.
The likes of Cardiff and Fulham have been chipping away at them as of late and if you let the idea of ‘bottling it’ come into the players’ minds for even a second, you could lose them. Thankfully, Wolves fans should rejoice in hearing that they are taking things one game at a time, and they also need to remember that the old gold & black have plenty of weapons in their arsenal.
One of the main reasons behind their consistency has been the continued presence of many first-team players on a week to week basis, and while it’s nice to find a system that works, Wolves’ squad is littered with talent from head to toe. As an example, they managed to hold Manchester City to a 0-0 draw in the League Cup, and that side was made up predominantly of fringe players.
Wolves as a club just need to remain calm because the finishing line is still in sight, and they are being led by a man who knows just how much this means to the city and supporters around the globe.
