Nuno is doing perfect job maintaining Wolves’ focus

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo seems to be maintaining his composure ahead of a crucial few days in their season.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been lauded by fans and pundits alike throughout the season for how he has been able to guide Wolverhampton Wanderers up the Championship table, but recent allegations are starting to detract from the positive work at Molineux since the summer.

A handful of clubs towards the top of the division have reportedly issued complaints to the EFL regarding the relationship between the club and agent Jorge Mendes. While there does not appear to be any wrongdoing on Wolves’ end, there is a chance they could be investigated, and the Express & Star have revealed just how much thought Nuno is putting into that.

“I don’t know and I don’t care” he said. “My only focus is on preparing the team for the games.

“It is an issue that does not concern me or worry me because I trust completely the club and what the club is doing”.

It is this kind of calm and calculated demeanour that has won over so many supporters and neutrals over the last few months but, in turn, it is also beginning to cause criticism following Wolves’ recent run of poor form.

These poor patches are common, especially when a club has been leading the way for so long, but Nuno does not seem to be fazed by anything that has happened over the last few weeks. It has undoubtedly been the toughest portion of his tenure at the club thus far, and yet the club seems more prepared than ever to handle it.

Ironically enough Wolves’ next two Championship games come against Leeds United and Aston Villa, two of the three clubs that have been listed as the ones who voiced their opinions regarding Mendes and his dealings in the first place.

While that can only be a coincidence it certainly provides Nuno with an extra sense of motivation, even if he does not let the media know it. Conor Coady, who has been a rock at the back for the Midlands side for a few years now, even stated that Nuno’s influence has been key to their success and overall mentality throughout the campaign.
