Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Alfred N’Diaye claims that his run at Molineux has been hard at times.

As reported by the Express & Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Alfred N’Diaye has spoken out regarding his current tenure at Molineux.
The Frenchman is currently on loan at the Midlands club from Villarreal and, while there was a great deal of interest in his switch, so far he has not quite broken into the first team line-up in the way that many were expecting.
N’Diaye finds himself in a tough situation as Wolves continue to lead the way in the Championship, as they have done for the majority of the season, and while he is clearly pleased about that, it is not unreasonable to suggest that he would selfishly want to be out there playing on a weekly basis.

“No one is happy to stay on the bench,” the Wolves man said. “But I’ve given my best in training, worked hard and when I’ve had a few minutes I’ve tried to give my best. I’ve played five games in a row, it’s good for my confidence.
“It’s been hard for me but sometimes football is like this. The team is very good and when it’s like this you have nothing to say. You have to work.”
As N’Diaye noted he has enjoyed a run in the first team of late, which has allowed him to showcase more of what he can do. With two goals in his last three games you cannot really complain from an outsider’s perspective but, if you look deeper, there is more to it than that.

With the next few months serving as the ‘crunch time’ period in the Championship promotion race, Wolves will need to start thinking about who they want in their starting line-up courtesy of their overall contributions. With Ruben Neves sitting out the next two games, it will almost certainly open the door for the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Romain Saiss to stake their claim in midfield.
N’Diaye needs to ensure that he focuses on his own game and nobody else’s, and does not let the fact that he is fighting for his place affect him. Despite his strong display in midweek, he was brought off for the aforementioned Gibbs-White, who impressed during his cameo appearance.
Then there is Saiss, who helps Wolves look like a more solid unit with his composure, meaning that N’Diaye needs to remain consistent if he wants to lock down his place in the Wolves XI. After all, he is not just playing for his position this season but also for a potential run in the first-team if, as expected, they reach the Premier League.
