Mohamed Salah’s incredible debut season for Liverpool just keeps getting better.

The race for the golden boot in the Premier League is on, with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah now the lead contender ahead of Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

The Egyptian has been on fire so far this season, with his four-goal performance against Watford at the weekend taking him clear of the injured Kane. Salah’s 28-goal haul, in comparison to Kane’s 24, is outrageously impressive when you consider just how many plaudits the Englishman has received for his form over the last few seasons.

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Salah has been the standout man in the top flight since August and, with the World Cup just a few months away, the excitement is building as the 25-year-old prepares to prove himself on the global stage.

Of course, the fans on Merseyside do not want Spurs supporters to forget who is leading the way in the goal-scoring rankings and they have taken to Twitter to make their feelings known.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool celebrates scoring his side's fourth goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Watford at Anfield on March 17, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

This is the first time the Reds have had a legitimate scoring machine up top since Luis Suarez left the club and, given how close the Uruguayan took them to the Premier League title, the Anfield faithful will be praying that Jurgen Klopp can keep hold of Salah in the summer transfer window.

For now, though, Liverpool fans will be holding their breath and hoping for no injuries throughout the international break before they return to league action against Crystal Palace on March 31.
