Paul Lambert needs to learn from mistakes made by Walter Zenga at Wolves.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a turbulent season and that is known by everyone at this point.
The roller coaster ride that fans have been on has been a long and sometimes painful one, but under Paul Lambert there finally seems to be a period of sustained consistency which can only be a good thing.
However, with the January transfer window in full swing the former Villa boss needs to ensure that he does not fall into the same trap that Walter Zenga did. By that, of course, we mean bringing in over a dozen players while not necessarily having long term plans for all of them.
The thing about money in football is that there always seems to be an endless stream of it. With the introduction of new owners Fosun, it was understandably tempting for Zenga to splash the cash on a number of foreign players without having too much care in the world.
Unfortunately, a lot of his work is having to be undone due to the fact that Wolves just are not able to provide everyone with guaranteed first-team football.
While that is the case at some Championship clubs, it is even more important for Wolves to know their best starting XI as the ambitions they have are extremely high. Lambert will no doubt be shipping some players out both permanently and on loan, but in return that does not mean he has to go and replace them because he already has the options ready at his disposal to do that.
One or maybe even two incoming players could work, but only if they fully understand how the rotation system is going to work going forward. Things are changing at Molineux, and it is for the better.
